Adults

College Age

We are very thankful for the college age young adults that are part of our Hunters Creek Church family. Though a number of them leave the area for college, we are thankful for the active involvement of those who remain plugged in as they study or work locally.

There are a number of ways that college age grow in their relationship with Christ, and develop friendships with each other. First, they can participate in an active College Age Sunday School class that meets at 9:15 am each week in the basement of Pastor Joel’s home. His home is located just to the north of our Old Church building, and the basement entrance is accessible by following the sidewalk to the back entrance. The class studies a variety of topics to help them grow in their relationship with the Lord, and their time together includes sharing, caring, and praying for each other.

The group also enjoys doing things together; often spontaneous, but sometimes more planned and organized. One of the highlights of the year is going to an annual College/Career retreat at Camp Barakel. The retreat, which usually falls on the first weekend of the new year, provides opportunities to relax and have fun, as well as build friendships with others who love the Lord. The retreat includes challenging and encouraging messages from God’s Word, as well as many outdoor winter activities.

Men's Ministry

We desire to help men become godly servant leaders in their home and in the church, as well as in their workplace. To this end we seek to provide men’s events and activities to help them grow as disciples of Christ and as godly servant leaders.

Some of the opportunities that we have include the following:

  • Men's Sunday School Class—join other men of all ages to engage in sharing, prayer, and Bible study.

  • Monthly Men’s Breakfast—The men meet once a month on a Saturday morning at 8:00 AM in the Community Room for some good eating, Bible study, prayer, and fellowship. Check the online calendar for scheduled dates and locations.

  • Men’s Softball—During the summer months, we usually have a men’s team that plays against other local church teams. Games begin in May and run through the end of July, and there is usually a fee to play on the team. Watch for announcements in late spring regarding team formation. Families are encouraged to come to cheer the team on and enjoy the summertime fun with other families. Doubleheaders are usually played once a week.

  • Camp Barakel Men’s Retreat—Each fall, usually in mid-October, the men head up to Camp Barakel to enjoy some great food, fellowship, worship, and challenging messages from God’s Word. Men register by going to the Camp Barakel website and registering for the retreat weekend we’ve chosen as noted on our online calendar. A sign-up sheet is also made available in our narthex so that we know who is planning to go. It is important to register early as the retreats are usually all filled up a few weeks in advance.

  • From time to time we offer other opportunities for men, such as Men’s Basketball, Wild Game Dinners, Skeet Shoots, etc. As with all events, they will be announced on our website as well as in our church bulletin.

Women's Ministry

We have an active and growing Women’s Ministry here at Hunters Creek. Some of the special activities and events that we offer for women include:

  • Women’s Bible Studies—Over the last several years we have been offering Fall and Spring Bible studies for the ladies. These studies, which often take place on Monday evenings, have been well attended and many ladies have grown in their walk with the Lord and their understanding of Scripture through these intensive Bible studies. Watch for announcements on the home page or check our online calendar for upcoming or current Bible studies.

  • Women’s Softball—During the summer months, our women have a softball team that competes with other local church teams. Our games are generally played at Dream Field, Lapeer Church of Christ 1680 N. Lapeer Rd., Lapeer, MI. Please check the church calendar for this year’s schedule and updates. You may also pick up a schedule from the table in the Narthex. But for any last minute changes, the church calendar will be the best place to check.

Senior Saints' Ministry

JOY (Just Older Youth) JOY is a fellowship ministry for senior saints age 50 and over. We have various activities about once a month to enjoy time together. Our monthly lunch is in the Community Room. Check the online calendar for scheduled events.
